Tigers secure maiden win

April 13th 2009 01:12

For all of you Queensland Cup watchers out there, I have also been covering home matches for the Easts Tigers over the past two seasons.

Easts are coached by former great Darren Smith and boast a number of players with NRL experience including captain Trent Young, ex-Cowboys and Broncos prop Ben Vaeau, Isaak Ah Mau, former Roosters front rower Charlie Tonga and Scottish international Wade Liddell.

Tweed Heads had one unsuccessful shot at field goal before it was left to Cullen to slot the one-pointer in the 78th minute.

The win was easily Easts best performance of the season – Cullen was dangerous in support and strong in defence, while the forward pack, in particular Ben Vaeau, ran powerfully.
