The New South Wales Blues have made a number of changes heading into the decider at ANZ Stadium. Most notably, teenage halfback Mitchell Pearce will make his debut at the expense of Peter Wallace who has been dropped. Pearce will partner Roosters' team mate Braith Anasta in the halves after incumbant five-eighth Greg Bird was ruled out with a knee injury.

In the outside backs, Mark Gasnier will miss the game due to injury. His centre position has been taken by Canberra flyer Joel Monaghan who will play his first Origin match. Winger Jarryd Hayne returns from suspension and takes the place of Steven Turner.

The starting farward pack remains the same, while prop Ben Cross replaces fellow Newcastle Knight Steve Simpson on the interchange bench.

this is crap becuase mark gasnier isnt playing and nsw needs a better goal kicker

Thanks for the comment Kieran.

I agree NSW will definitely miss Gasnier in the centres. No disrespect to Monaghan but he's nowhere near Gasnier in terms of attacking ability.

Fitzgibbon is a pretty good kicker but the problem is he won't be on the field for the full 80 minutes.

this is always they way the selectors failing to do there job properly there surpose to pick the best players so this should mean the best players in there position now brett white is no where as good as luke bailey or mark omealy or jason ryles but yet none of them are picked braith anasta should never of been left out of any off the games and sorry craig fitzgibbon can not be the best second rower out there whilst ben hornby is and has played great at half for dragons and nsw before selectors jesus come on do your job sollect the best players not hopefulls you represent nsw people do the right thing by them and choice the best side to repersent them or go play lotto.

Granted the NSW halves play togther at club level but it will be a huge challenge for Pearce to dominate in his Origin debut.

I reckon Queensland definitely have the better halves pairing in Prince and Thurston. It's no contest really.
