NRL Predictions - Round 25

Category: Weekly Predictions
It's finally getting down to the business end of the season and it should be another enthralling round of footy as teams jostle for top eight spots (or in the case of the Cowboys and Bulldogs look to avoid the wooden spoon).
Sydney Roosters v South Sydney Rabbitohs
Round 25 kicks off with the local derby between the Roosters and Rabbitohs and it's their first clash since the infamous 'prowler' tackle on Craig Wing in round one. However, culprit Riley Brown he isn't taking the field this time - which is probably a good thing from his perspective as he'll be safe on sideline from any potential acts of revenge. In terms of the actual game, I think the Roosters will win here. Their top four spot under threat and they'll be focused on grabbing the two points.
Wests Tigers v Cronulla Sharks
In a massive blow to Wests chances, hooker Robbie Farah has been ruled out with injury and captain Brett Hodgson remains in doubt. Interestingly, Cronulla haven't beaten the Tigers in their last eight encounters but I think this will change tonight. The Sharks will be determined to put a week of controversy behind them and I think RIcky Stuart's forward should be able to trample the Tigers' pack. Sharks to win.
Newcastle Knights v Melbourne Storm
It's hard to see the Knights posing too great a challenge to the reigning premiers. Storm by a fair margin.
North Queensland Cowboys v Canberra Raiders
The Raiders horrendous injury toll has continued with prop Troy Thompson and halfback Marc Herbert sidelined for this clash. The season ending injury has forced coach Neil Hnary to name regular lock Alan Tongue in the number seven jersey - their attack may suffer. North Queensland showed some good signs in the second half against the Knights last weekend and I think they'll take that form into this match. Cowboys to cause an upset at home.
St. George Illawarra Dragons v Parramatta Eels
The final Saturday night game is between the seventh placed Dragons and ninth placed Eels. Paramatta need to win to stay in tough with the top eight but will dearly miss the serviles of playmaker Brett Finch. The clash of the outside backs should be exicting to watch with the likes of Gasnier, Cooper and Morris coming up against Inu, Hayne and Tautai. I think the Dragons are too strong across the park and should come away with victory.
New Zealand Warriors v Penrith Panthers
The Warriors should win this one, they're close to unstoppable at home.
Canterbury Bulldogs v Brisbane Broncos
I think the Broncos will prove far too strong for the hapless Doggies. Look for PJ Marsh to have a high level of involvement for Brisbane following the withdrawal of regular hooker Michael Ennis.

I picked 7/8 last weekend (88%). My overall tally for the season stands at 109/176 (62%).

And apolgies for the missing tip, I couldn't get to computer today.
109 tips for the season isn't that bad. Looking at how some of the 'experts' are going on leaguehq.com.au and in the Courier Mail I'd be sitting about mid-table. So, I'm not doing too poorly.
