NRL Predictions - Round 24

Category: Weekly Predictions
Brisbane Broncos v Gold Coast Titans
It promises to be a cracking local derby between the Broncos and the Titans. Their last encounter at Suncorp saw the home team triumph in golden point thanks to a field goal from Darren Lockyer - I think we'll see another close match tonight in front of a 40,000 plus crowd. The Broncos welcome back a host of troops (Justin Hodges, Karmichael Hunt, Tonie Carroll and Greg Eastwood), while the Coast will be relying on the magic of the inspirational Scott Prince to get them over the line. Despite the presence of a few showers up here in Brissy both teams will be looking to throw the ball around. It's hard to pick a winner but I'm taking the Broncos by 1-12, they should have too much class out wide.
Cronulla Sharks v Sydney Roosters
This is NRL Live's match of the round, so please click HERE for an indepth preview. For the record I think the Roosters will scrape home but it'll be tight.
Wests Tigers v Manly Sea Eagles
The Tigers were cod ordinary last round against the Eels, while Manly also suffered an upset at the hands of the Rabbitohs. I don't think we'll see any complacency in the Sea Eagles' ranks this weekend, expect the boys from Brookvale to bounce back with a win.
Canterbury Bulldogs v Parramatta Eels
It's very hard to see the Bulldogs winning this one. As they did last week, Parramatta will look to throw the ball around and I don't think Canterbury have the necessary defensive starch. Eels by three or four tries.
Newcastle Knights v North Queensland Cowboys
In a big blow to Newcastle, backrowers Steve Simpson and Cory Paterson have been ruled out due to injury and the Cowboys will fancy their chances of an upset. However, the Knights have to win to stay in touch with the top eight - I think they'll tough it out.
South Sydney Rabbitohs v Canberra Raiders
The Raiders have been in superb form lately but traditionally struggle away from home. Souths upset Manly last weekend and could pull off another unlikely victory here but on a dry Sunday afternoon track I'm backing the Raiders to win
St. George Illawarra Dragons v New Zealand Warriors
Tough tip this one. To be very blunt, I think the Dragons will win as the Warriors are usually very poor in Australia.
Penrith Panthers v Melbourne Storm
Storm to win!
...
I picked 5/8 last weekend (63%). My overall tally for the season stands at 102/168 (61%).
