NRL Predictions - Round 23

Brisbane Broncos v St. George Illawarra Dragons
Friday 7:30pm, Suncorp Stadium
CLICK HERE FOR A DETAILED PREVIEW
Both teams have a number of key players sidelined for this clash. The Broncos will be without Karmichael Hunt, Justin Hodges, Tonie Carroll and Greg Eastwood, while the Dragons are missing Brett Morris and halfback Jamie Soward. Brisbane has struggled in recent times against St. George but I think the home ground advantage will be enough to for the Broncos to notch a win.
Melbourne Storm v Sydney Roosters
Friday 7:30pm, Olympic Park
Sydney will launch a psychical assault on the reigning premiers and Melbourne are ripe for the picking in this game after their grueling win over Manly last weekend. It’s impossible to tip against the Storm though, especially at Olympic Park.
New Zealand Warriors v Cronulla Sharks
Saturday 5:30pm, Mount Smart Stadium
New Zealand snuck home over the Broncos last week and I can see them doing the same against Cronulla. They play their best footy in front of their own supporters. Warriors by 1-12.
North Queensland Cowboys v Gold Coast Titans
Saturday 7:30pm, Dairy Farmers Stadium
North Queensland finally snapped their thirteen game losing streak and head into this clash full of confidence. The return of captain and key playmaker Johnathan Thurston is also a massive boost. It’s hard to see the Titans managing a win in this one. Cowboys to grab the two points.
Penrith Panthers v Canterbury Bulldogs
Saturday 7:30pm, CUA Stadium
Simply speaking, the Panthers should put the ‘Dogs to the sword. They’ll be determined to bounce back after the horrors of last weekend and it’s hard to see Canterbury winning a match for the rest of the year. Panthers by three or four tries.
Canberra Raiders v Newcastle Knights
Sunday 2:00pm, Canberra Stadium
Sunday afternoon will see two of the most exciting teams in the NRL lock horns. As I’m sure you’ve heard, the Raiders walloped the Panthers, while the Knights were almost equally as dominant against the Titans. It should be an awesome spectacle regardless of the winner but I’m backing the Raiders to cement their position in the top eight.
South Sydney Rabbitohs v Manly Sea Eagles
Sunday 3:00pm, ANZ Stadium
Although they may still be feeling the effects of their epic encounter with the Storm, the Sea Eagles are too strong across the park for the Bunnies. Look for another clinical display from the competition leaders.
Parramatta Eels v Wests Tigers
Monday 7:00pm, Parramatta Stadium
This is probably the toughest game of the round to pick. Parramatta upset the Roosters last Sunday but, given their inconsistency this season, it wouldn’t surprise me if they fell in a heap against Wests. However, in saying that, I think Parramatta have finally turned the corner. Eels to win.
…
I picked 6/8 last weekend (75%). My overall tally for the season stands at 97/160 (61%).
Once again, apologies for the lack of content on the site in recent times, it's been a hectic few weeks.
Anyway, enjoy the footy this weekend and don't forget to check ouf NRL Live's OFFICIAL PLAYER MOVEMENT SUMMARY
