NRL Live Predictions - Round 14

Category: Weekly Tips
Sydney Roosters v ($1.36) v Penrith Panthers ($3.00)
Both teams are last start losers and will be determined to turn things around this weekend. The Roosters were thrashed last round by Manly, while the Panthers were upset by the less fancied Sharks. Sydney has the larger contingent (Mason, Myles, Tupou and Fitzgibbon) backing up from Origin duty – they may feel the pinch physically. However, in saying that, I do like the look of the Roosters’ halves pairing and I think they’ll win in a close one
Cronulla Sharks ($1.40) v New Zealand Warriors ($2.80)
The only Saturday match sees the Sharks take on the Warriors at Shark Park. Cronulla are equal leaders of the competition, while New Zealand are languishing in 13th position due to a dreadful record away from home. Despite their contrasting positions on the ladder, and the fact that they’re away from home, I think the visitors are in with a mighty sniff. It’s a risky tip but I’m backing the Warriors to win.
Canberra Raiders ($2.20) v Brisbane Broncos ($1.65)
The ‘Baby Broncos’ lost convincingly to the Dragons but will be strengthened by the return of their Origin stars for this clash. It’s always a tough road trip to the nation’s capital but the Broncos boast too much strike power from the likes of Hunt, Ennis, Wallace and Marsh for an often one-dimensional Raiders team. Broncos by
1-12 points.
Wests Tigers ($1.80) v Parramatta Eels ($2.00)
The Wests Tigers are quickly becoming one of the form teams of the competition and they put the under-strength Cowboys to the sword last weekend. However, the Eels are also starting to gain some momentum after a slow start to the season and this match could go either way. Overall I think the Tigers should have too much speed and agility for Parramatta. Tigers to win in a close one.
North Queensland Cowboys ($2.05) v Newcastle Knights($1.75)
The fifth and final game is between the second last Cowboys and the tenth placed Knights. Apparently North Queensland captain Johnathan Thurston is in doubt with a shoulder injury. This is bad news for the Cowboys, as they’re already missing a host of key players including O’Donnell, Bowen and Southern. To put it simply, if Thurston plays I think the Cowboys will win. If he doesn’t play I think the Knights will be too strong. So, until we hear any definitive news about Thurston’s availability, I’m going to leave this one hanging in the balance. Stay tuned! My tip will be revealed in the coming days…
It appears that Thurston will play, so I'm staying true to my word and tipping the Cowboys to win.
The Bulldogs, Dragons, Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs, Storm and Titans all have the bye this round.
I picked 5/8 last weekend (63%) and my overall tally for the season stands at 56/94 (60%).
Happy tipping this week!
